Well Repair

Well Repairs for 6-inch to 20 inch wells anywhere in the continental USA.

Well swaging has modernized well repair

Many areas across our country, especially here out west, are seeing water levels in wells decline due to lack of recharge from droughts and too many wells draining down the water supply. A lowering water table puts a bigger strain on water wells and the result is faster casing deterioration, and less water. The fact is a diminishing water supply requires pumping water up from deeper levels and this means well casings fail faster than the thirty plus years we expect from them. In the past when a well’s water yields slowed, and a its casing begin to fail wells were taken out of service and a replacement well drilled. Today swaging can restore well casing back to its original shape and condition, allowing well cleaning to safely bring back an older well to its best production rate.

Well Patches

Patching is the fastest and most effective way to get a well back in service quickly. It brings a well back to its intended size and strength, without having to make any changes to pump size or setting. A well can be cleaned more efficiently because it does not have reductions or inner casing that needs to be clean through. Watertight seals are made by matching the exact outside circumference of the patch to a well’s casing inside diameter or by adding rubber or neoprene to the patch. A well patch reduces the well size by about ¼-inch depending on the thickness of the patch and how much pressure is applied during swaging. A hydraulic swage is best to use because it can build up to 10,000 PSI to forge out a tight-fitting patch to brace against static water pressure. The “rule of thumb for patch strength” is it takes the same amount of pressure to collapse a patch in as it does to push it out.

With Over 50 years of service in well; swaging – repairing – cleaning – you learn a few things.

aboutus

The Guardino family has been involved in the groundwater industry since 1929.  Started as Western Well LTD of San Jose, California, the first water company in the west to drill rotary water wells. This allowed for gravel filter packs and deeper surface seals. In 1970 Bob and Mike Guardino 3rd and 4th generation in the well water business started a company to keep older wells producing. Today we specialize in supplying tools and services to aid in well maintenance, repair and rehabilitation.
