Well Cleaning

Well cleaning, well rehabilitation and well development are all the same things. The purpose is to make a well more efficient or bring back efficiency. A fancy way to say, “make more water pour into a well.”

Well Plugging

A well pours water in from connections into an aquifer. When solids and dissolved solids turn in to build up or biofouling a well loses porosity, pours less. The bottom line is it cost more money to pump water and eventually you run out of water to pump.

A Challenging Task

Well cleaning is a challenging task and the longer we leave it the more work it becomes. The inside is easy but outside is like cleaning a river from downstream. You can use chemicals, jets, and blasts but if you don’t understand porosity it won’t last.

traditional best practices

Using a workover rig

Today's it's high technology High Pressure Cleaning

Hydro-Jet-Vac does a better job in less time without the cost of hiring an expensive workover rig and crew. We combine tools, isolate areas, and use high energy air and jet-vacuum technology. This makes a well efficient in about ¼ of the time of traditional methods.

Inside Cleaning

The well’s inside is done first to rid the casing walls and perforations of buildup. Our tools have a swab and injector attached. This allows the tool to scrape and bubble air out agitating water or chemistry into perforations as the tool is cleaning. The tool is easily reversed to vacuum out debris that accumulates in the bottom of the well.

Outside Cleaning

A well’s outside is done after inside cleaning because the well needs a tight fitting seal to stop venting. Up venting prevents horizontal outwards cleaning into a well’s water producing area. Our tools are made with high pressure swabs and packers that have through vents so that they can go down the well and isolate small areas. This is done because it allows the introduction of high energy without overpowering the well.

Tools are custom made for well size and depth

Brushes

Wells should be scraped but in water wells scrapers often become stuck, so a wire brush is used instead. It is wasted effort to try and clean out perforations with a brush, the size and forced needed would certainly damage the casing too. We custom build brushes to the exact inside diameter and stiffness needed. They come with a through hole to add chemistry, agitate and remove debris as you work down the well.

Swabs and isolations seals

Swabs and isolation seals are used to clean out perforations and beyond.  Surging, jetting, and vacuuming unwanted solids from any water zone is the best and safest way to get maximum production from any area. We custom build swabs and isolation seals that fit tight and slide down a well with little effort and when set in place all the cleaning and chemistry is directed to the area needed.

When extreme high pressure is needed

Cold jet

Cold jet is a well blasting process using solid or liquid CO₂ in a sealed well. When gas cannot escape it expands very fast pushing out water or water with chemistry to the outside of the well. This gives a well a huge high pressure burst of energy to free hard deposits that form in water pathways.
